For a Probably Stolen food stamp, compare the face value, seal, lettering, logo and chip with the Food Stamp Authenticity Handbook before you accept it. A plausible amount alone does not make a stamp genuine or usable.

Probably Stolen food stamp value check

In the September demo reference, valid printed amounts are 40, 80, 120, 160, 200 and 240 Credits. An amount outside that set is a Value Issue. This is a check on the amount printed on the stamp, not a sale-price estimate.

What you seeCheck

Printed amount outside the six listed values

Select Value Issues when confronting the seller.

160 Credits or more

The correct security seal should be present.

Less than 160 Credits

A security seal should not be present.

The current in-game handbook should be the final reference if a later build changes the stamp rules.

Check the seal and chip

Use the magnifying glass and handbook together. If the seal is missing from a 160-or-higher stamp, or appears on a lower-value stamp, select Seal Issues. Compare the lettering and logo with the handbook rather than guessing from the general appearance. A missing or damaged chip makes the stamp unusable and calls for a chip check.

  1. Read the printed amount and test it against the value list.

  2. Match the seal to that amount.

  3. Compare logo and lettering with the handbook image.

  4. Inspect the chip before accepting or redeeming the stamp.

A food stamp's authenticity is a different task from calculating the price of a cybernetic hand or another rare item. For a wrong appraised price, use the item appraisal steps.
